Make 2017 the year you quit smoking for good. The Church Health Center offers Commit to Quit smoking cessation groups each month. Four-week group sessions start the first Tuesday of every month from 6-7:15 pm at Church Health Center Wellness, 1115 Union Ave. Commit to Quit is free for Church Health Center Wellness members and $40 for the community. The Way, A Service of Recovery: Ongoing
Award-winning musician Rev. John Kilzer hosts The Way, a service of recovery, at 6 pm every Friday at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1207 Peabody Ave. The Way focuses on recovery, encouragement and hope. Music will be a key component of the service with many local musicians stopping by to perform. The service, which is a joint ministry of Methodist Healthcare, St. John’s and the Church Health Center is free and open to the public. Free Diabetes Education: Ongoing
The Church Health Center offers free Diabetes Education
This is 2-class series that will give you the skills to self-manage your condition.
Classes are held each Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 pm at Church Health Center Wellness, 1115 Union. Registration is not required, and you may start at any point during the month. Can’t make it on Tuesday? Diabetes Education is presented in its entirety from 9 am-1 pm the second Saturday of each month. Registration is required for the Saturday course. Please call 901.701.2221 to sign up.
Freedom from Smoking: Ongoing
Shelby County Health Department’s Tobacco Prevention Program offers free smoking cessation classes to Shelby county residents who are looking to quit. The goal is to get participants focused on how to quit smoking and how to maintain abstinence. If you or a loved one may be interested, please contact Courtney Tipper at 901.222.9274.

YMCA of Memphis & The Mid-South:Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring: Ongoing
1 in 3 Americans have high blood pressure. The YMCA offers a self monitoring blood pressure program. Participants will record their blood pressure readings using easy-to-use, self-selected tracking tools. The program hopes to reduce blood pressure, increase awareness of triggers that elevate blood pressure, enhanced knowledge to develop healthier eating habits, and encourage better blood pressure management.

Annual Mens Health Summit
We are inviting you to participate during the 10th Annual Men’s Summit. This event is scheduled for Saturday, June 24th at the University of Tennessee Student Union Building, 8AM to 12Noon. The conference will provide needed health information to both men, boys and Women!
Attendance to the summit is open to any male who wishes to attend. Women are allowed and encouraged to attend. However, they will only be admitted if they have one or more males from 13 years accompanying them.
